In Google Sheets, when you enter a formula in a cell, it returns the result once you hit enter, but there’s always a formula working behind it.
You can see the formula in the formula bar when you select a particular cell. But if you want to see all the formulas that you have in a sheet, there are a few methods that you can use.
Show Formulas with the Keyboard Shortcut
You can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + ~ to show the formula and the same shortcut to hide the formula again.
It is an ON-OFF shortcut to show and hide the formula.
Using the View Menu to Show Formulas
The same things you can do from the View > Show > Formulas. It’s the same option that you do use with the keyboard shortcut.
Once you click on the option, it will show all the formulas. This option is a workbook-level option; if you have multiple worksheets in your file and change the option to show formulas, it will show formulas for all the worksheets in the file.
Show Formula for a Single Cell
If you want to show only the formula for a single cell, you can do it in two ways. The first method is to convert an apostrophe at the beginning of the formula into text.
And when you want to convert to back as a formula, delete the apostrophe from the cell and hit enter to enter it as a formula.
The second method is to convert use the FORMULATEXT function. With this function, you can get the formula used in a cell in a different cell.
The above snapshot, we have the formula from the cell B1 in the cell C1 by using the FORMULATEXT function.
