How to Hide Rows and Columns in Google Sheets

Steps to Hide a Column Using Mouse Right Click

  • First, click on the column header letter to select the entire column and click right click or on the downward arrow icon within that header cell.
  • After that, select the “Hide Column” option from the dropdown menu.

  • At this point, your selected column (Column B) got hidden between Column A and Column C.

Hide Multiple Columns Using Mouse Right Click

Sometimes you want to hide the multiple adjacent and non-adjacent columns within the dataset and to do so follow the below steps:

  • First, click on the column header letter to select the first column.
  • After that, if columns are adjacent, press and hold the “Shift” key and then click on the header column letters of each column to select them all together to hide them in one go.

  • In the case of non-adjacent columns, press and hold the “Ctrl” key and then click on the header column letters of each column to select them all together to hide them in one go.

  • Once you select all the columns, release the hold key, and right click, or go to the column header of any selected column and click on the dropdown arrow icon in that to open the dropdown menu.
  • In the end, click on “Hide Columns” and your selected columns will get hidden.

Hide Columns Using the Keyboard Shortcut

  • First, go to any cell with the column and press and hold the “Ctrl” key and then press the “Spacebar” tab twice to select the entire column.
  • Once selected, release the “Ctrl” key and now, press and hold the “Shift” key and press the right arrow to select the right side adjacent columns or press the left arrow to select the left side adjacent columns.
  • In the case of non-adjacent columns, after selecting the first column, do not release the “Ctrl” key and click on each column header letter to select them all.
  • Once you are done selecting the columns. Simply press the “Ctrl + Alt + 9” keys and the selected columns will get hidden.

Hide a Row Using Mouse Right Click

  • Click on the row number to select the entire row and then click right click and select the “Hide row” option.

  • At this point, your selected row (Row 4) got hidden between Row 3 and Row 5.

Hide Multiple Rows Using Mouse Right Click

  • First, click on the row number to select the first row.
  • After that, if the rows are adjacent, press and hold the “Shift” key and then click on each row number to select them all together.
  • Once selected, release the hold key, and then right click, and then select the “Hide rows” option.

  • In the case of non-adjacent rows, press and hold the “Ctrl” key and then click on each row number to select them all.
  • Once selected, release the key, and then right click, and then select the “Hide rows” option.

Note: Sometimes you may find difficulty in hiding the non-adjacent rows together. In that case, it is recommended not to release the “Ctrl” key even after selecting all the rows, and right click on any row number of the selected row, and then you will get the “Hide rows” option.
